Praised for his “dark-hued, expressive baritone and captivating stage presence” (Opera Actual), Polish baritone Szymon Mechliński is establishing himself as one of the most compelling young Verdian voices of his generation.
In the 2026-27 season, he will appear as Lescaut Manon Lescaut at Teatro Real Madrid, Heerrufer Lohengrin at the Dallas Opera, Marcello La bohème at Seattle Opera, and Scarpia Tosca at Wrocław Opera. As a frequent guest of the Polish National Opera, he will perform Sharpless Madama Butterfly, Ford Falstaff and Scarpia Tosca. On the concert stage he will sing the title role in Król Roger with the Finland Radio Symphony Orchestra, and the baritone solo in Beethoven's 9th Symphony with the Filharmonia Łódzka.
Future highlights include his debut at The Metropolitan Opera. Recent career milestones include his acclaimed debuts in the title role of Król Roger at the Philharmonie Berlin and the Teatr Wielki Poznań, his debut at the BBC Proms with Szymanowski´s Stabat Mater, and his Santa Fe Opera Festival debut as Marcello La bohème. He performed Heerrufer Lohengrin at the Staatsoper Hamburg, and Giorgio Germont La traviata, Paolo Albiani Simon Boccanegra, Marcello La bohème at the Polish National Opera.
Further highlights include his debut at the Teatro Massimo di Palermo as Sharpless Madama Butterfly, Valentin Faust with the Canadian Opera Company, Lord Guglielmo Cecil Maria Stuarda at the Teatro Real Madrid and the Dutch National Opera, and Don Pizarro Fidelio at the Opéra National de Bordeaux. At the Polish National Opera, he has given acclaimed performances as Amonasro Aida, and Pietro Negri in Różycki's Beatrix Cenci. He has also appeared as Miecznik The Haunted Manor at the Teatr Wielki Poznań and Conte di Luna Il trovatore at the Teatro Regio di Parma.
